P. Brooks

Phil Brooks and my wife Sue have been active in things Bentley since the spring of 1965 (59 years ago), when we bought our first Bentley, a ’49 Mark VI that we  got in England and brought to America.  Since then we’ve had a 3 Litre, an S.1 Continental, an S.3 Continental, a Continental GT coupe, and our beloved ’36 4-1/4 Derby Bentley roadster by Vanden Plas.  The Derby we bought in 1970 and spent 30 years off and on restoring; we have shown it at Pebble Beach, Meadow Brook, and Hershey.  All of our Bentleys have been wonderful, but the Derby is part of our family.

I have been active in the Bentley Drivers Club since 1965 and have been the South East regional chairman since 1970.  I have also served on the BDC Board twice.  Dave Berndt and I set up the BDCNA a few years ago to provide services for our members over here that the club in the UK could not provide.

Sue is just as active as I am with Bentleys and their flat-radiatored cousins.  She was the first female president of the RROC and was driving a Bentley at the time!

D. Berndt

Mr. David Berndt started driving in the mid-60’s and found himself soon immersed in the great muscle and pony cars era. A retired Certified Gemologist/Appraiser, originally from Harrisburg, PA. Mr. Berndt has judged events as an accredited Judge with AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) including the prestigious Hershey Fall Meet where he was a judge for the Class “Prestige Vehicles.”

His interest in Rolls-Royce and Bentley led him to a volunteer position at the Rolls-Royce Owners Club (RROC) headquarters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1974. After inventorying the Rolls-Royce Foundation Library, he became the first Managing Director for the non-profit arm of RROC. Mr. Berndt is involved in organizing, judging, and assisting in the production of various automotive events in the Orlando area. These events included: the Lake Dora Classic – Mount Dora, Fl, the Winter Park Concours d’Elegance and the Gasparilla Concours d’Elegance.

He is Past Chairman and former Chief Judge for the Florida Region and a past National Director of RROC. He maintains his memberships with AACA, LCOC, RROC, BDC.

Hasan Hamade

Originally from Southern California, brings 16+ years of experience as an exotic vehicle specialist, from sales to “turning a wrench”. Beyond his professional prowess, Hasan enjoys the finer things in life, such as smoking cigars, collecting items of exquisite craftsmanship, playing golf, auto racing (NASA Competition License) and spending quality time with his wife. His keen eye for opulence and detail is unparalleled. Currently Exotic Vehicle Operations Manager at JB Imports, with a “who’s who” client base.

Working with the RR and Bentley marques for many years, this passion led Hasan to the BDCNA.

I grew up among a family of car lovers. My mother would drive us kids around in the rumble seat of our ’34 Packard Roadster. It had a compartment under the small luggage holder where whiskey bottles could be carried undetected. The car was built just before Prohibition ended.

My uncle owned a 1929 Plymouth that was later replaced by a Studebaker Avanti. I learned to clutch shift on an XK120, without synchromesh. My first “sports” car was a Triumph 250. I was fortunate to drive a Porsche 911T across the country several times.

My first Rolls-Royce, Vickie, was a 1988 Corniche II, DHC. that required a significant amount of “rehab”.

My first Bentley, Walter, was a 2006 Arnage Mulliner T. My joy was baiting muscle car drivers, who looked at Walter as a stodgy old British car. We left them in the dust.

Now we have the first Bentley that honored the racing heritage of the company, a 1990 Turbo R, Owen. Recently we acquired an early green badge, 1999 Arnage, Maggie. Both cars get thumbs up by passers-by.

Lastly, we have a 1996 Rolls-Royce, Springfield Silver Spur, made to commemorate the Springfield, MA factory, in the 1920’s. The Brewster body company, who supplied many Springfield bodies, was a Mayflower descendant, William Brewster, a “distant cousin” of mine.
